Nissan to move design headquarters to San Diego
Nissan North America has decided that they will be changing the location of their design headquarters from Michigan to San Diego and will be firing 110 employees during the transition. This rearrangement of their operating system in the United States will also shut down four regional offices.
The Japanese automaker that currently holds U.S. headquarters in Nashville, Tenn., says that sales and marketing procedures are to be processed through seven regional sales offices and 23 satellite offices in 18 locations in the future. The company will be closing regional sales offices located in Herndon, Va.; Pleasanton; Aurora, Ill.; and Atlanta.
Around designers from Farmington Hills, Mich., have been asked to work at Nissan Design America in the San Diego sector.
The engineering and research and development aspect of the company will remain at the Michigan center. The Nissan technical center in Stanfield, Ariz., and the model-making facility in Mexicali will stay in their current locations.
