Man hits rocks after jumping off Sunset Cliffs
A 23-year-old man leaped off of the Sunset Cliffs and into the water yesterday afternoon, causing serious injury to the head, said a lifeguard spokesman.
The man jumped off a 20-foot cliff at the baseof Del Monte Avenue and smacked his head on the rocks beneath the water, reported San Diego lifeguard Lt. John Greenhalgh. The man suffered from deep cuts in the top of his skull.
Lifeguards discovered the man laying outside of the water, but he was conscious.
Greenlaugh reports that the lifeguards put the man on a stretcher and carried him up to the top of the cliffs.
The man was transported to a hospital, a fire department dispatcher stated. His status and information regarding his condition was not released.
