A judge approved the trial date for two men from East County who are facing charges for the kidnap and and attack of a 76-year-old woman from Mount Helix. The trial will take place in August.

Judge Peter C. Deddeh declared that the trial for Jeffrey Nelson and Luis Osborne, who are responsible for the attack of Natalie “Sandy” Herbst-Vinge in December, will occur on Aug. 11.

Nelson and Osborne took Nelson Herbst-Vinge from her home in Resmar Place around 10 p.m. on Dec. 8 and placed her in the back of a stolen 2006 Dodge Magnum, with her body bound and gagged for 26 hours. The car was intercepted at a traffic stop in El Cajon where the sheriff found her in the back and saved her from captivated state.

Nelson, 19, and Osborne 18, are being charged for various felonies, even one of torture. If the two are found guilty, they could receive life in prison.
