Hiker has to be airlifted after collapsing from heat exhaustion
A 40-year-old hiker had to be saved yesterday by a sheriff’s helicopter crew after he fell to the ground from heat exhaustion during his hike on a trail that leads to Cedar Creek Falls, located southeast of San Diego Country Estates by Ramona.
Emergency officials received a call around 4:30 p.m. and an ASTREA helicopter with a hoist was sent to the location by the Eagle Peak parking area around 5 p.m. They originally flew the hiker to a Cal Fire station in Ramona, then an ambulance transported him to a hospital following that, sheriff’s officials reported.
