A 57-year-old man with diabetes was hurt while riding on a charter sportfishing boat last night when he passed out and struck his head on the deck of the boat, authorities reported.

The Royal Polaris Sportfishing boat, which goes out on a one-and-a-half-day excursions, came back to San Diego after the man had his incident around 6:15 p.m., reported Nicola Lesourd of the Coast Guard.

According to Lesourd, the crew helped the man by feeding him and providing soda after he became conscious once again. Authorities came to the conclusion that calling a rescue crew was not needed. After the boat had taken the man back to the San Diego Harbor Police dock, it went back out to sea to finish up the rest of the excursion. It is to come back to San Diego tomorrow morning, Lesourd stated.
