Man hit and killed by trolley by Morena station

A middle-aged man was hit by a trolley by the Morena station Sunday night and died. Authorities are currently seeking witnesses.

A trolley conductor saw the man’s body, who looked as if his head had been cut off, around 8:40 p.m. close to the tracks, San Diego Police Lt. Dan Christman stated.

A trolley on an earlier route traveling westbound from the Morena station to the Old Town station could possibly have struck the man around 8:30 p.m., he stated.

The victim, whose name has not been releases, looked as if he was a homeless by the look of his clothing, Christman reported.

The county medical examiner’s staff reported later that the man who was hit “appeared to be a disheveled adult white male between 35 and 45 years of age.”

The man could have possibly leaped across the cars and fell beneath the vehicles, this assumption was reached since the bar located at the front of the trolley, which notices when the trolley has struck something, did not go off, Christman stated. Trolley service stopped running for a time period on the route between the Old Town and Morena stations after the body was found. Anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact police at (619) 531-2000.
