A man from San Diego entered a not guilty plea Tuesday to charges claiming he killed a 33-year-old woman inside a gated apartment complex in San Ysidro earlier this month by stabbing her to death.
Ysmael Galindo, 24, was brought into court by a Superior Court judge and was commanded to be held in jail without the possibility of bail, reported Deputy District Attorney David Bost during an interview. A preceding hearing has been set to take place on Aug. 10.
The woman attacked in the incident, Araceli Noriega, went over to her friends apartment located on Dairy Mart Road, near Vista Lane, to visit and hang out with friends when she was stabbed to death around 12:20 a.m. July 2, police said. She was hanging out with a group of five people who were drinking and listening to music.
She left the group multiple times throughout the night, police stated. The last time she came back to the group she was holding her side because she had been stabbed, police said.
A thorough examination into the case allowed detectives to find Galindo as a suspect. U.S. Marshals took him into custody on July 13 on Wardlow Avenue in Nestor, just a couple blocks away from the apartment complex where Noreiga had gone to see her friends.
