Gunman in gang-related shooting arrested
A 23-year-old man from Vista was arrested and booked into jail after he was believed to be responsible for shooting another man at a La Mesa motel last month in what police have come to determine was a gang-related incident.
Around 12:45 a.m. Aug. 23, an armed man fired three shots at a 22-year-old man in the parking lot of the Heritage Inn located on Fletcher Parkway near Baltimore Drive, police reported.
Members of the San Diego County Probation Department were able to recognize and point out Maurice White after they watched a surveillance video of the parking lot that revealed the gunman, police reported.
White was taken into custody on Tuesday after he was accused of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and partaking in a criminal street gang.
