High school student accused of rape
A 16-year-old San Marcos student accused of assaulting a high schooler this spring and a 13-year-old student from a school in the area last year was taken into custody yesterday morning, sheriff’s deputies reported.
Deputies in the sexual assault department took the boy into custody around 10:30 a.m. and reported that he was sent to stay at the Juvenile Hall under sexual assault charges, including rape by intoxication.
Authorities started to look into the case when a 14-year-old girl called officials on Sept. 6 and reported that she had been a victim of rape by another student at San Marcos High School.
The girl reported to authorities that on May 12, two boys brought her to the back of a business complex by the school and raped her, deputies stated.
Investigators in the sexual assault unit later found out that one of the two boys thought to have attacked the girl was also a suspect in a sexual assault case involving a 13-year-old student at another school in January 2008.
During the time of the student’s assault last year, the student did not want to draw further attention to the case, deputies reported.
Deputies added that they are still looking into the case. They will send the case to the District Attorney’s Office to look over the terms and charges.
