Victim killed in mobile home fire
One person died last night when a blaze consumed a house at the El Capitan Mobile Home Park on Madison Avenue in El Cajon, officials reported.
Fire crews arrived at the scene after they got a call from residents informing them there was a smoke coming from the home just a little before 7 p.m., Heartland Fire officials stated.
Around the same time, El Cajon firefighters from a station close by were also able to see the smoke coming from the home and responded to the house within a matter of three minutes.
It took 20 firefighters to extinguish the fire in 15 minutes.
Authorities did not reveal the name of the victim killed. They also reported that four pet birds died in the fire.
The fire damaged about $75,000 worth of possessions.
