Death of infant under investigation by homicide detectives
Homicide detectives are currently looking into a case in which a 3-month-old baby was found dead and an autopsy showed that the baby had suffered a number of suspicious and unexplained injuries, San Diego police reported Friday.
The infant, known to be Aziya Davinger according to the Medical Examiner’s Office, was discovered dead Tuesday afternoon by a caretaker in the apartment complex at Serra Mesa while the baby was home alone, investigators stated. The caretaker, a 25-year-old man, dialed police and reported what he had seen, the child cold and without color, stated San Diego police Lt. Kevin Rooney.
An autopsy revealed that the infant had undergone various injuries that had accumulated over a period of time, Rooney stated. The cause of her death is still being investigated, reported the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Detectives are interrogating five different adults who are residents in the three-bedroom apartment located on Gramercy Drive, near Taft Middle School. Officials searched the apartment in hopes of evidence.
