One person was left without a home yesterday after a blaze started in his garage and quickly spread to damage his home and boat.

The fire on Lotus Street near Ebers Street began around 11:15 a.m., a dispatcher with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department reported. Firefighters showed up at the scene to discover the garage completely on fire.

The blaze was put out at 11:30 a.m. Firefighters stayed at the home in order to make sure that the hazardous materials in the garage did not catch on fire, the dispatcher stated.

Damage to the garage and the home was said to cost about $150,000. The boat, which was being stored within the garage, will cost about $6,000 to repair.

The source of the fire is not certain.
