Security guard threatened by man with gun
A security guard at a San Ysidro store faced an attacker who said he was armed with an Uzi-style gun Monday afternoon, San Diego police reported.
The guard was holding a woman back who he thought had shoplifted from the Kmart on Camino del la Plaza off Interstate 5 around 1:15 p.m. when the man walked up to him, police reported.
He pulled out the gun and directed it at the security guard and then the woman got inside a pickup and drove off, police stated.
Both were said to be Latino. The man was about 20 years-old with a medium build and she was said to be on the heavier side with dark hair, and dressed in a white shirt.
Police did not report that anything was taken. Robbery detectives are looking into the situation.
