Man forced to give over recently bought dog

A man walking his new dog he just bought, was taken away and robbed in Encanto Saturday morning. The man was traveling on Imperial Avenue near 60th Street around 11 a.m. when two gray vehicles drove alongside the man, exited the vehicle and shouted “That is my dog,” San Diego police reported.

The kidnapper made the victim and the dog get inside one of the cars and took off driving, police stated. During the drive the man attempted to jump out with the dog but was yanked back inside.

The kidnapper then informed him that he was armed with a gun and would take him out if he didn’t give the dog over. The victim eventually gave up the dog and was released from the car somewhere in the southeastern area of the city, police stated. The victim was not hurt in the incident. The dog was reported to be a blue-nosed pit bull worth $400, police said.

No description of the men or the vehicles was available.
