Pedestrian killed by hit-and-run driver
A pedestrian who was hit by a driver on Friday night and killed in the incident was said to be Ventura Ortiz Madragal, 79, a resident of Chula Vista, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Ortiz was walking across Highland Avenue at Sixth Street in National City in the crosswalk around 7:30 p.m. when he was hit by a driver in a sport utility car. The driver just kept driving after hitting the pedestrian.
Ortiz was killed at the time of impact.
