Pipe breaks, causing water deprivation for customers

Four customers were deprived of water after a pipe broke in the water line on Friday morning, but the break was supposed to be repaired and working again by 6 p.m., an Otay Water District official reported.

The break took place by state Route 94 and Lyons Valley Road around 8 a.m., stated Mark Watton, the district’s general manager. A 2-inch diameter pipe connected to a 14-inch main combusted, he stated. A few other customers in the location said there was low water pressure.

One mobile home experienced some flooding. Insurance claims adjusters were estimating the damage done, Watton stated.
