According to police, the victim and his friend came to his home located on Woodlawn Avenue near H Street a little before 8:30 a.m. and saw someone in the driver’s seat of the man’s other car.

The victim came to the realization that his car was about to be taken and used the car he was in to block the passageway for the Acura to leave, but the robber was able to move around the owner, reported Chula Vista police Lt. William Reber.

The car thief made his was south on Woodland to H Street, with the owner of the vehicle right behind him. After a short chase, the man drove into a trailer park parking lot, hopped out of the car and took off running. He only got about 50 feet away in his attempt to hop the fence but he was taken down by the owner and his friend, Reber stated. The two held the man down until police came to the scene.

Police took the 24-year-old man into custody. The man was minimally hurt in his face during the tussle. He was transported to the hospital for assurance that he was okay and was to be sent to the county jail thereafter on accusations of auto theft, Reber reported.
