Police have taken a suspect into custody after he was thought to be linked to a murder in the San Diego Rolando neighborhood Tuesday.

Detectives have devoted three days looking for the suspect, Torrance Jones, 33, after a stabbing occurred that resulted in the death of 22-year-old LaDonte Collins. Police report that they spotted Jones in downtown San Diego and took him into custody  on accusations of murder.

The murder took place around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday after Collins and his two friends had been traveling down 70th Street near El Cajon Boulevard, and decided to pull over at a motel when their car got a flat tire.

The group dialed a taxi but when it showed up, the men started to get into a fight with some people staying at the motel, who argued that the cab was the one they called. According to police, Jones stabbed Collins, and Collins passed away from stab wounds shortly after.
