Another tragic skateboarding accident occurred this week when a teen boarder was hit by a car in Vista.

Fire and sheriff’s officials arrived at the accident in which a car struck an 18-year-old skateboarder around 4:20 p.m. Friday near Cedar Road and West Vista Way in Vista.

The driver, a 27-year-old man from Oceanside, was traveling north on Cedar Road when the teen is reported to have ventured onto the road, reported sheriff’s officials.  The driver said that he attempted to stop in time but was unsuccessful.

The teen was injured with two broken legs and small facial cuts and was transported to a hospital.

On Jan. 29, another skateboarder named Lucas Giaconelli, 15, of Vista was hit by a car and killed around 7 p.m. on Thibodo Road near Edna Way. The driver took off and police are led to believe an old man is responsible for the hit-and-run.
