A courageous soldier from El Cajon passed away in Pakistan this week when revolutionaries in opposition to the soldiers bombarded his unit with explosives, federal officials reported Friday.

On that tragic day, three Fort Bragg soldiers were killed in the bombardment, among those was 39-year-old army Staff Sgt. Mark A. Stets. The soldiers were stationed and killed in Timergara, Pakistan, the U.S. Department of Defense stated.

Stets was a part of the 8th Psychological Operations Battalion, 4th Psychological Operations Group, which is a unit usually in air.

Sgt. 1st Class David J. Hartman, 27, of Okinawa, Japan, and Sgt. 1st Class Matthew S. Sluss-Tiller, 35, of Catlettsburg, Ky were the other soldiers who were attacked and killed in Pakistan.

During this difficult time may their families be comforted and these men not go unnoticed.
