House fire causes severe damage to home
A fire in a Del Cerro home late Wednesday resulted in $750,000 worth of damage and detectives are still working to find out what caused the blaze.
The blaze was called in around 11:10 p.m. at a two-story home connected to a garage on Caminito Plata near Caminito Estrellado, a San Diego fire dispatcher reported. The fire was extinguished at about midnight.
Firefighters reported that they spotted flames coming from the roof of the garage when they came to the scene. A family of five was left without a home after the incident, said San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Maurice Luque.
The residents successfully escaped in time before anyone was injured.
The fire resulted in about $600,000 damage to the structure and $150,000 in damage to its contents, a fire dispatcher stated.
