A young man hiking on a trail in Elfin Forest Wednesday afternoon was bit by a snake on his finger, a fire dispatcher reported.

The 21-year-old was on a trail around 2:30 p.m. when a snake attacked him and bit him. He did not know what specific type of snake it was. He was able to retreat to the parking lot safely. There he was treated for his snake bite by paramedics from the Elfin Forest/Harmony Grove Fire Department. He was then transported to Palomar Medical Center for more medical aide.

Current news about his condition was not given Wednesday night.
