Police make over 36 DUI arrests over holiday week
The number of DUI arrests over the Thanksgiving holiday rose as compared to the numbers from last year in the San Diego County and all around the state, reports from the holidays stated Friday.
The California Highway Patrol has taken 36 drivers into custody under suspicion of driving under the influence in the San Diego county, in comparison to last year’s 32 arrests made during the same time.
The arrests took place between 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Friday.
CHP officers all over the state have made 542 DUI arrests as of Friday, which is already 29 more arrests than the previous year.
The agency is also informing that there have been 12 fatal accidents across the state, including a female pedestrian who was hit and killed in San Diego Wednesday night.
Officers are not taking any chances for drunk driving and are setting up checkpoints as well as heavy oversight of the roads.
