33 arrests made at Charger-Raider game
Police arrested 33 people at Sunday’s San Diego Chargers-Oakland Raiders game, a number which is lower than the usual number of arrests for Chargers games.
28 of the people arrested were taken into custody for being drunk in public, reported San Diego police Lt. Mark Hanten. Four were arrested under beating charges and one was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after a brawl in which a man kicked another man in the head, Hanten stated.
Nevertheless, “this was less problematic than the average,” he added. None of the arrests were about fights between the rival teams.
Charger football games have become known for the many arrests made at the game since the fans get carried away and many fights erupt within the stands and the parking lot. To sum up, 44 arrests were made at last year’s Chargers-Raiders game, the majority of which were for public drunkenness.
