Mormon church set on fire, search for suspect pends
Police are offering a reward of $5,000 reward for key information that allows police to find the person or persons responsible for burning down the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located in Cardiff last month.
The building was set on fire between 8 p.m. on Jan. 24 and 6:30 a.m. the next day in the foyer of the Mormon church found on Lake Drive, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives reported. The church has also experienced vandalism with graffiti on their doors in the past.
The damage was thought to be worth over $5,000.
Investigators from ATF and the sheriff’s bomb/arson unit are joining forces to look for a person responsible and find out the reasons behind the arsonist act.
