Suspected drunk driver hits police car
A Sheriff’s deputy in his patrol car was hit in the back of his car on Sunday night in Cardiff by a supposed intoxicated driver.
The deputy was stopped at a traffic light on South Coast Highway 101 and Chesterfield Drive around 10:30 p.m. when he rear-ended, stated Sheriff’s Sgt. William Dreyer.
The force of the hit caused the car to move into the intersection, Dreyer reported.
The deputy was transported to a hospital where he received medical aide and was allowed to leave for small wounds.
The 44-year-old driver, who was not hurt, was taken into custody under accusations of driving under the influence, Dreyer added.
