Illegal border crossers picked up by helicopter
A woman under suspicion of crossing the border against the law along with her husband was picked up by a helicopter from a rough, rural area Tuesday, authorities reported.
U.S. Border Patrol agents held the man in custody around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in a near Dulzura, stated Agent Mark Endicott. The man informed agents that his wife was unconscious, and they went to look for her. They discovered the woman around 1 p.m. who seemed to be in pain for exposure to the weather. Agents contacted the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department’s Copter 1 to transport her by air to the hospital.
When she was picked up, she was conscious but not capable of moving, Endicott reported.
The Sheriff’s Department Astrea helicopter helped to look for the woman near Otay Truck Trail, stated Cal Fire Battalion Chief Nick Schuler.
