Fire takes over 500 acres at Camp Pendleton
A blaze at Camp Pendleton covered about 500 acres yesterday, a base spokesman reported.
The fire is located on the northeastern part of the base and isn’t thought to put any structures in danger, 1st Lt. Riley Whaling stated. The source of the fire has not been discovered. It started around 2:10 p.m. Saturday.
Whaling reported that there are three engines at the location working to put out the fire, and the base’s fire department is dealing with the fire without any other aid from other departments. The fire is about 50 percent contained, he added.
