According to the Medical Examiner’s Office, the case involving the death of a 3-month-old girl in a Serra Mesa apartment has been declared to be a homicide, as of Monday.

Her body was discovered Oct. 13, 2009, by a caretaker/roommate while her parents were at work, San Diego police investigators reported before. She said that the infant was cold and pale when she talked with the police.

An autopsy the next day led officers to discover the baby girl had suffered numerous injuries that were caused over a period of time, investigators stated. The wounds were in sporadically in different stages of recovery and the direct cause of her death was not released until Monday.

The parents and three other adults who are residents in the three-bedroom apartment located on Gramercy Drive near Taft Middle School have been questioned by detectives, who also looked throughout the apartment for clues.

Homicide Lt. Kevin Rooney did not give out details right away on Monday.
