Teen goes missing, man arrested under child-rape charges
A 28-year-old man under suspicion of sexual abuse after a report of a a missing 13-year-old girl from Vista was filed was taken into custody on Thursday, sheriff’s officials reported.
A deputy dispatched to go to the family’s house after they called reporting their teen was missing, came to the house a little after 5 a.m. Thursday, but at that time the girl was already back at home.
After talking to different members of the family, the deputy came to the realization that the teen had an adult boyfriend who had given the teenager a cell phone on which he would call or message her to meet him late at night, sheriff’s Sgt. Karen Stubkjaer reported.
Child abuse detectives were also informed about the situation and did a check-up on the victim.
Late Thursday night, the 28-year-old man’s wife dialed San Marcos deputies and informed them that she thought he was connected to a child-rape case and he was going to escape to Mexico, Stubkjaer said.
Deputies took the man into custody under suspicion of crude and offensive sexual acts with young children 14 years and younger, Stubkjaer stated.
