Unconscious swimmer passes away at hospital
A woman who had been swimming close to the La Jolla Shores was discovered unconscious and and without breath floating in the water Tuesday morning and passed away at the hospital a little after, officials stated.
Someone at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club saw a body floating in the water and contacted police a little after 9:30 a.m.
Lifeguards grabbed the woman out of the water, who looked to be around the age of 40, and was floating facedown in the water brushing up against a sea wall during high tide, reported San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman Maurice Luque. She was wearing a short wet suit, fins and goggles.
Lifeguards carried out CPR on the woman and took her to a hospital to be treated, but she passed away shortly after at 11:07 a.m.
The woman has not been matched to a name.
