Street fight turns ugly, ending in man’s death
A dispute between two traveling transients escalated to extremes until one man was killed and another was taken into custody, police said Sunday.
Officers received a call to report to the Albertsons on Broadway, by Main Street, around 9:40 p.m. Saturday informing them that a man was laying outside the store and they went to oversee the problem.
The man was found laying on the ground with clear evidence he suffered blows to the face, police could not detect a pulse and they came to the conclusion that he was dead after paramedics tried to revive him, El Cajon police report.
Officers looked around the surrounding area and by the supermarket where they found Michael James Russell, 39, and arrested him. After conversing with detectives, he was taken into custody and held in jail under accusations of homicide, police stated.
Authorities are currently seeking the victim’s relatives in order to inform them about the death before announcing the name to the public.
